Sharing China’s Experience in Investment Promotion and Economic Development

On the invitation of the Government of People’s Republic of China, Mikheil Kobaladze, Investor Relations Coordinator of the Georgian National Investment Agency attended a three-week course about the economic development of China over the past 30 years held in Beijing, China. The aim of the seminar that gathered the officials from 16 different countries (mostly from South-East Asia) was to deepen their understanding of China’s economic development. The seminar was organized by the Renmin University of China and touched upon the various aspects of the Chinese development including foreign trade, investment promotion and customs.

The intense program of the seminar consisted of interesting lectures as well as the site visits where the participants saw different types of development zones, industrial and technology parks, and factories. Besides Beijing, the officials attending the course also visited the Jiangsu Province, one of China’s most developed regions. Here they met with local officials and learned about the province’s experience in the attraction of foreign direct investment and setting up the development zones. The development speed and achievements made by China over the past 30 years are truly impressive and provide a good example for Georgia.

The seminar was extremely fruitful and beneficial giving the invaluable knowledge and understanding of China that will be used for increasing business links between Georgia and China and for attracting more Chinese investments
