Seminar on Business Opportunities of Georgia held for Flemish Businessmen in Brussels
September 24, 2009 – The seminar titled “Azerbaijan and Georgia: Business Opportunities” was held in Brussels, Belgium on September 24th. The event was organized by the Investment and Trade Agency of Flanders “Flanders Investment and Trade” with the support of the embassies of Georgia and Azerbaijan in Belgium. 70 companies from the region of Flanders, which are interested in exploring business opportunities on the Georgian market, attended the seminar.

Opening of Tourism Information Centre in Tbilisi
Department of Tourism and Resorts of Georgia, Ministry of Economic Development has been opened a Tourism Information Centre in Tbilisi on the 27th of July 2009. The centre was officially opened by the Minister of Economic Development of Georgia Mr. Lasha Zhvania. Among invited guests were the representatives of Georgian Tour Operators, other people engaged in the tourism field as well as representatives of International Organizations and Diplomatic Missions accredited in Georgia.

The Minister of Economic Development of Georgia Mr. Lasha Zhvania’s visit to Baku, Azerbaijan
During the visit, the Minister signed the Protocol of Amendments to the “Agreement on Air Communication between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Georgia”, signed on February 3, 1993. The Protocol makes the existing agreement more liberal by abolishing the restrictions for capacity, frequency, tariffs, destination points etc.

The Minister of Economic Development of Georgia visits Estonia as the Estonian businessmen show growing interest in Georgia
On May 10-12, 2009, Minister of Economic Development of Georgia Mr. Lasha Zhvania paid a two-day official visit to the capital of Estonia. He was accompanied by Director of the Georgian National Investment Agency Nino Baratashvili. Mr. Zhvania had several high-profile meetings with the representatives of the Estonian Government including Prime Minister of Estonia Mr. Andrus Ansip, Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia Mr. Juhan Parts and Undersecretary of External Economic Affairs and Development Cooperation Mrs. Marina Kaljurand.
