Nergeta started its operations in 2009, and is a company dedicated to developing premium agricultural products in Western Georgia. For this, Nergeta takes advantage of the unique humid subtropical climate of Georgia's Samegrelo region. In 2015, Nergeta has successfully exported kiwifruit to Lidl, one of Europe's most dynamic supermarket chains that also is widely recognized for the quality of its fruit and vegetable offerings.
Currently, Nergeta is specializing on kiwifruit. The company has worked intensively with renowned experts from New Zealand, to ensure that Nergeta orchards meet the highest quality standards. Nergeta was set up by three founders, two Georgians and one German, all of whom are actively engaged with the company, and employs approximately 20 workers with more engaged at times of peak activity.
Nergeta holds a Global GAP certification and the company is committed to producing shelf-ready products that have zero reject rate. Next to its existing orchard, which is scheduled to reach full production by 2017, Nergeta also runs a pack house and a cold storage facility. In the future, Nergeta plans to expand its orchards, and also to expand its nursery offerings, to improve the quality of plant material available to Georgian farmers.
